Abstract: As autonomous, agentic systems increasingly participate in the execution and transformation of socio-technical workflows, they challenge traditional assumptions about the relationship between stakeholders, requirements, and implemented systems. This keynote explores the implications of agentic systems for Requirements Engineering, arguing that RE must broaden its analytical focus beyond individual requirements. It discusses the need to treat the interaction loops involving humans, agents, and their shared operational environments as first-class objects of analysis and design — and why, in this context, the R in RE is no longer sufficient.
About the speaker: Jordan Kyriakidis began his career in downtown Toronto, took a detour through quantum physics, and landed at the intersection of AI, engineering, and business transformation. After earning a PhD in Quantum Theory from the University of Basel (Switzerland), he spent 14 years as a professor at Dalhousie University, leading the Quantum Theory Group — until he left academia to build something new. As CEO of QRA, he leads the development of AI-driven tools that help global aerospace, energy, and biotech companies design and validate complex systems, enabling organizations to uncover hidden risks early, accelerate integration, and create enduring value in high-stakes, high-complexity environments. He also serves on Canada's Federal Advisory Council on AI, advising on national strategy, policy, and commercialization, including the ethical deployment of AI in critical industries.
